Summary
Our tissue culture laboratory is looking for a highly motivated individual to fill the position of media prep technician. This person would have experience reading recipes and carefully following instructions. Someone with experience as a chef/baker/kitchen worker would be perfect for this role!
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Minimum qualification: High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must have the ability to perform precise, repetitive tasks using your hands and small tools such as forceps and scalpels
- Ability to recognize visual differences in color, shape and form of small (less than 0.25”) plants required
- Must possess effective time management and organizational skills, ability to work independently and good interpersonal communication skills
- Must have ability to follow written procedures and quality compliance requirements.
- Must have strong initiative and focus on safety, quality, accuracy, and be detail-oriented.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean and efficient work area
- Sterilize laboratory equipment using a chemical solution provided
- Efficiently produce material based on daily schedule
- Perform all job functions safely. Follow safety guidelines, equipment procedures, and chemical handling guidelines. Report any safety deficiencies or safety incidents immediately.
- Perform general lab maintenance and housekeeping per department procedures.
- Create and foster a team-oriented environment by demonstrating respect and appreciation for differences in perspectives and approaches among colleagues.
- May be crossed trained in other areas to meet the needs of the business
- Adjust to schedule changes, work overtime as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Must have the ability to perform precise, repetitive tasks using your hands and small tools such as forceps and scalpels
- Ability to recognize visual differences in color, shape and form of small (less than 0.25”) plants required
- May be required to work weekends, off-shifts, and overtime
- Expected to be sitting at a flow bench 90% of the time.
- Ability to lift up to 25lbs
- Work with and around pressurized tanks, housings and equipment, which are connected by piping and pumps and serviced by pressurized steam, water, air and cleaning/sanitizing chemicals systems.
- Don gowning in the form of hospital scrubs, hair net, face mask, latex gloves and shoe covers throughout shift.
- Attendance is mandatory.
